Wild Women Guides are some of the best in the business, and we love sharing some of the piles of fan mail we regularly receive raving about how fabulous they are!

“As a staunch feminist, to me, being a Wild Woman means empowerment. It means looking inside yourself to challenge yourself and to support others to do things you have never done before. Leading women’s only trips provides an environment where women can ‘be’ in the wilderness together and cooperatively enjoy a sense of belonging there.” read more

“There are so many great memories of working for WWE that I don’t even know where to start. One of my favourites is from my very first trip. One of the participants had her 50th birthday on the trip so we baked a cake (but had forgotten the outback oven, so cobbled together a reflector oven out of a cookie sheet and some pots). After finally finishing baking and decorating the cake, we had to call her out from her tent where she’d already retired for the night. Under a gleaming moon on a rocky cliff, we all sang happy birthday and devoured that delicious chocolate cake. The birthday goddess, full of glee and drunk on the moon, stood at the edge of the cliff, hooted like a banshee and flung her cake plate as far as she could into the French River. The rest of us were amazed that the quietest member of the group, and the one who seemed the most conservative and contained, had let the wild woman within completely out of its cage! I wonder how she spent her 60th birthday!” read more

“I find there is something magical created by the women on every trip; at the beginning I have no idea what particular flavour it will be, but I know I can count on it happening every time through the course of creating our adventure together. Over the years I’ve noticed that I get particular joy from supporting and witnessing people’s firsts… a woman’s first time sterning with comfort or first kayaking trip after only canoeing for years, or first time skinny dipping, a woman’s first coming out with strangers, a woman elder reconnecting with nature after years of raising her family… I find these to be moments spilling over with the feeling of aliveness and awe.” read more

“My favorite aspects of guiding a women’s only group are the freedom, companionship, new friends, common goals, teamwork, skinny dipping, shared meals, story telling, gained wisdom, comfort, looking out for each other, being in the now.” read more

To Karen, being a Wild Woman is about trying new things and taking risks, sharing stories, laughing together, the camaraderie and always taking the time to support each other. One of her favourite aspect of guiding all women trips is watching women build their confidence, encourage each other and be so playful in an environment of care, safety and shared leadership.  read more

“Women’s only adventures are special. There is so much support, camaraderie and laughing that you feel lighter, happier and healthier. To me, being a ‘wild women’ means breaking away from traditional stereotypes and moving toward genuine understandings of ourselves as multi-talented, limitless and natural beings. We are all wild in our own ways, and the tours provided through Wild Women Expeditions are designed to bring together all women for the sharing and strengthening of our wildness.” read more

“I find the most joy, peace, connection, forgiveness and adventure when I am exploring with a group of women. When I gather with other women, with intention in nature, I find my Utopia.  Adventure to me is the idea of getting lost and finding myself.  I have done this most of my life, and it is in those moments of uncertainty and disillusion that an epiphany can tickle your senses, give you goose bumps, and remind you that you are in the right place at the right time.  When you travel with me, I bring my heart and soul on the journey, and invite you to do the same.  I live a natural path that allows me to be connected with nature.  I know that a journey in a canoe is much more than just a paddle on the water.” read more

Fan Mail

We love hearing from WWE members about your trip experiences…here is some of the latest fan mail we’ve received about our amazing guides!

“Jennifer is truly an exceptional young woman. Her knowledge and skills were very apparent from the time we set off, her enthusiasm and laughter was contagious. When I think of her, I automatically laugh now, as she had a way of getting everyone in a good mood.

Prior to our departure, Jennifer asked if we had any goals for this trip. She made it her mission to see that we reached these goals. Mine was tosee a moose (I’ve yet to see one despite my years of travelling north.) Jennifer got up each morning before dawn to go with me on a hunt. While we weren’t successful, it was certainly not from a lack of trying on Jennifer’s part! And this is just one small example of how Jennifer worked to ensure each of us had the experience we wanted and needed.

Jennifer was encouraging, engaged, and is a very sweet girl. We could nothave asked for a better guide. Her commitment to providing us with an exciting time, where each of us felt valued and appreciated for our contribution was apparent right from the start. She fostered a sense of shared leadership and truly cared that we felt we were welcome to share out thoughts and opinions. She’s pretty damned strong as well! What a great time. I can’t express to you how much I enjoyed myself. It was everything I had hoped for and more.”

“Ally was a superb guide – tending to our every need and participating with us as though we had her youthful body and energy . She empowered us to do things we might not have known we could do – and praised the results ! Each woman on the trip was touched by her in some way – thank you so much for putting her in charge of our trip !!!!!!! We love her dearly !!!!!!!”

“I just want to let you know what an awesome person Ally is and what a great leader. She balances leadership of women old enough to be her mother with finesse and delicacy. She laughs and joins in with times of fellowship and never makes any one of us feel undermined even when we do stupid things like capsizing a canoe right at the shoreline!!!!! She’s an unbeliev”able cook too!

“We had a great trip – please pass on our thanks to everyone who participated in our great experience. The food, route, weather, etc was fabulous. Most of all, please pass on our thanks to Karen – She is a truly talented, knowledge and lovely person – it was a pleasure to have her with us during our trip.”

“I can’t thank Karen enough for being such a fantastic guide. I honestly had one of the best and most fun weekends I can remember in a long time. I will definitely be coming on another WWE trip in the near future. Thanks again for giving us all a great weekend.”
